Basalt Summer Concert Series

Stay tuned for the announcement of the Summer 2023 lineup!

Series returns in 2023 with 10 concerts from June through August

A long-standing Basalt tradition, the Summer Concert Series has been showcasing a wide variety of musical genres with performances across town for several decades.

Concerts are held during the summer on Wednesday evenings from 5:30–8:30 p.m., in either Triangle Park or the Basalt River Park. Bring your blanket, chairs and a picnic and enjoy free live music all summer long. Be sure to support our area businesses by stopping in for dinner or happy hour.

The traditional Wednesday night series has gone through several iterations over the years:

Beginning in the 1980s the Basalt Chamber of Commerce coordinated a series of summer concerts for the Basalt Community. In those early days, the concerts featured chamber music with artists from the Aspen Music Festival & School. Over the decades the series evolved to highlight a variety of generes and local talent on Wednesday nights during the summer months.

In 2019 the chamber partnered with TACAW (The Arts Campus At Willits) for concert production and bookings. As a result, the quality of the concerts and the acts performing increased greatly and more people attended. In 2020 and 2021 it was necessary to pivot to a safer, disbursed entertainment alternative named Wednesday Night Live. In 2022, TACAW produced an end of summer concert.

In 2023 the series is back and ready to leverage the brand new stage in the Basalt River Park. This year, the Town of Basalt is taking on the mantle for the summer concert series, adding its own twist for future iterations! The Basalt Chamber of Commerce will continue to be involved in a supporting role, with Town staff executing the event in conjunction with a local event producer.

Any booking inquiries should be directed to Brent Compton.

Looking back

2022 | Eli Reed Band

TACAW has been working with the Town of Basalt on a single end-of-summer concert in 2022, in part due to several ongoing construction projects around town. In 2023, anticipating the completion of the Basalt River Park – and with it a new bandshell – TACAW hopes to revive the concert series in its own way!

2020 & 2021 | Wednesday Night Live – a COVID-safe alternative

A long-standing Basalt tradition, the Basalt Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Concert Series showcased a wide variety of musical genres with performances across town for over a decade. In 2020, the Summer Concert Series evolved into Wednesday Night Live – which allowed the Chamber the opportunity to partner with TACAW to provide live entertainment all across town. It went so well that this approach was repeated in 2021.
