NOTE: As of 2018, the Aspen-Basalt Campground (20640 Highway 82, Basalt, CO, 81621) is no longer in operation as a campground. Located directly off of Highway 82 in Basalt, the former KOA campground was purchased in 2008 by the Aspen Skiing Company. Within the last year, the company has been converted the site into a permanent seasonal housing community for its employees. There are NO camping services available here. - Carbondale/Crystal River KOA – sewer services are for guests only
- Gateway RV Park – sewer services are for guests only
- Glenwood Canyon Resort – non-guest sewer services available
- Rifle Rest Area Dump Station – public sewer services available
Campgrounds on Federal Land
The majority of campgrounds near Basalt are located up Frying Pan Road, and are near Ruedi Reservoir. Basalt is surrounded by National Forest and BLM land. The best resource for campgrounds and other points of interest is recreation.gov. Below is a list of campgrounds near Basalt, however there are many more option in the Roaring Fork Valley, particularly near the Maroon Bells, Independence Pass and the Crystal River Valley.
The campgrounds listed below are developed, yet more rustic, campgrounds, run by the White River National Forest. They offer basic amenities such as running water and restrooms (toilets may be compost-based).

Located approximately 14 miles east of Basalt, Colorado, in the White River National Forest, Ruedi Marina Campground is situated on Ruedi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Recreation facilities consist of 4 campgrounds accommodating 81 campsites and 2 boat-launching ramps. Sites at this campground open up to views of the reservoir and starry nighttime skies. A mixed conifer forest hems in the shoreline and nearby peaks offer an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. 40-foot maximum RV length. No hook ups available.

Dearhamer Campground has 13 standard sites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs. There is a maximum length of 35 feet for RVs.
The sites are equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Guests also have access to vault toilets and a drinking water hydrant, but electrical hook-ups are not available.
